William L. Reed, 74, a 30-year resident of Pecan Plantation, Granbury, Texas left this earth on Friday, July 17, 2020, in his home in the presence of family.

He was born to parents William R and Jayne (Betts) Reed on March 6, 1946 in Youngstown, Ohio.  Bill graduated from Parma Senior High School and earned his BS from Hiram College, MS from Troy State University in Computer Science, and MBA in Business from Arkansas University.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 49 years 9 months Aileen, his sons: David (Clarice) and William, daughter: Kerri Pavelick, mother Jayne Reed, sister Barbara Covill, and many loving grandchildren, great-grandsons, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.  Bill was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Bill loved sports of all kinds, but golf and baseball were his passions.  As a young man he played baseball for Hiram College, earning a place in its Hall of Fame for pitching a no hitter.  Though offered a pitching contract by the Boston Red Sox, he chose another path in life.  Playing golf with his friends Jerry and Stan were among his happiest days.  Luckily for him, Bill was one of those guys who was a natural athlete and could play almost any sport.

After Hiram Bill taught for two years before joining the USAF.  He loved flying fighters above all else and flew the F4 Phantom and the F-5 during his 20 years of service to his country.  He served at Torrejon AB in Spain, RAF Bentwaters in England, Dhahran Air Base in Saudi Arabia, Ramstein Headquarters USAFE in Germany, ending his career at Holloman AFB, New Mexico.  For the next 20 years he flew for Northwest/Delta before retiring.

After a well-earned retirement, he played golf, read, played and worked on his computer, and enjoyed being a part of his family and their interests and hobbies.  He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.

A graveside service was held at Acton Cemetery, Acton, Texas on July 19, 2020, attended by his loving family.
