Sherry was born in Fort Worth, TX on February 18, 1952, the first of three children. She graduated from O.D. Wyatt High School in 1970. She graduated from Tarrant County College with an Applied Science Associate Degree in Nursing on December 22, 1988. She started her nursing career at Cook Children’s Hospital on the Oncology unit. She went on to work at All Saints Hospital on the Oncology unit, where she was later promoted to the role of Charge nurse. She ended her nursing career at Texas Oncology where she worked as Dr. Mark Redrow’s nurse. She was extremely dedicated to her patients. So much so, that she would do home visits after hours as well as deliver prescriptions. She attended as many of her patients’ funerals as she possibly could, and stayed in contact with their families. Oncology is a tough field to work in, but it was Sherry’s true calling in life.

Sherry was the recipient of the very prestigious, United States Oncology Betsy York Memorial Award, for oncology nurse of the year, in 2007. She also helped found the I Can Cope organization which assists patients diagnosed with terminal illnesses, as well as their families. Sherry was very involved with the American Cancer Society, as well.

Sherry was an avid traveler. She traveled all over the States, many of those trips were made riding her motorcycle. She also traveled to Europe multiple times, her favorite European destination being Germany. She loved to spend time with her friends and family, however, her biggest love in life, was the love she had for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be dearly missed, but we know she is at home now, praise God!
