Reverend Charles (Larry) Dickson beloved husband, dad, pastor, mentor and friend went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 15, 2020 while surrounded by his loving family.  His unexpected passing was due to complications brought on by the COVID-19 virus.

Charles (Larry) Dickson was born June 13, 1944 in San Angelo, Texas to Cecil and Clara Mae Dickson.  He married Sandra (Sandy) Rogers, the love of his life, on May 27, 1966 at First Assembly of God Church in Abilene, Texas.  Larry is a graduate of Lakeview High School.  He earned a Business Administration degree from San Angelo State University.

Pastor Dickson was ordained by the Assemblies of God in June of 1970.  In June of 2020, he completed his 50th year of ministry.  For 50 years he put his heart and soul into loving and pastoring the congregations he served.  Pastor Dickson and Sandy have pastored in Big Lake, Texas; Fulton, Missouri; Jefferson City, Missouri; Columbia, Missouri; and San Antonio, Texas.  He also served as an Associate Pastor at Calvary Temple, Irving, Texas.

In July of 1989, Pastor Dickson and Sandy accepted the pastorate of Faith Assembly in Granbury.  He faithfully served the church and community for 31 years.  Pastor Dickson has served several terms as President of the Ministerial Alliance, the Board of People Helping People, the Hood County Pastors Counsel and Sectional Committee of the Assemblies of God for Hood County.

Perhaps one of his favorite accomplishments, was the establishment of the Annual Granbury Lighted Christmas Parade.  Thousands of people filled downtown Granbury during the Christmas Season to enjoy the parade, shops and food. This annual tradition still continues on to this day.

He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Clara Mae Dickson and his brother Andy Dickson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Sandra (Sandy) Rogers Dickson of 54 years.  Together he and Sandy had three children, his pride and joy.  This was his most cherished role, that of a family man, a strong pillar of unconditional love and support.  Their children are, daughter Stephanie Dickson-Hunt of Flower Mound, Texas, son Stephen Dickson of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, and daughter Jennifer Dickson-Wooten, Denver, Colorado.  Five grandchildren, Jordan and Lindsay Hunt, Lauren Hunt, Brady Hunt, Adalie Dickson, and Brek Wooten.  Five great-grandchildren, Lilah Hunt, J.D. Hunt, Sam Hunt, Addison McCafferty, and Skylar McCafferty.  He is also survived by his sister Mari Johns and husband Ronnie, sister-in-law’s Becky Dickson, Gwen George, Ann Page and husband Garry.  Many nieces, nephews and family members.

He was loved and respected throughout the community for his loving and gentle demeanor.  His legacy is the lives enriched by knowing him and a family that will be greatly influenced for generations to come by his Godly example.
