Pamela Gardner Manning
1937-2019
Pam was born on May 7, 1937 in Springfield, Mo and passed on September 30, 2019. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was raised in Marionville and Aurora, Mo. She graduated from Aurora High School in May 1955 where she was a drum major and twirler in the band. During high school she began working at Charles White Motor Company where she met her first husband James H. Wilkes Sr.

She then began a career in banking in which her first job was secretary for the President of the Aurora Bank. Later in her career she worked for banks in Tulsa, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco and Atlanta. Near the end of her banking career she was a branch manager for Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco. This was quite an achievement for a woman with a high school degree.
Following her career in banking she became a residential realtor and worked in Atlanta, Colleyville, and Granbury.

She followed a family legacy with a commitment to P.E.O. and was active in local P.E.O. chapters in every community in which she lived. She was also very supportive of her second husband Carl Manning’s activities with the Shriners. One of her highlights was watching Carl ride in a Shriner horse patrol in the Rose Parade.
In retirement, she and Carl purchased an RV and had a wonderful time traveling the country visiting family, friends, and RV rallies. She also enjoyed playing golf and was an active member of Pecan Plantation Country Club.

She and Carl also loved to support their grandchildren by attending sports contests, recitals, and many football games watching their grandchildren march in the band.
She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond Harris and Helen Coleman Gardner, her sister Connie Smith, and her husband Carl R. Manning. She is survived by her brother Raymond Gardner and wife Krista of Tulsa, OK., sons Jim Wilkes and wife Becky of Azle, TX, Lincoln Wilkes and wife Jean of Leesville, SC, Tom Manning and wife Melba of Friendswood, TX and daughter Cheryl Lynn Hardin of San Antonio, TX, 12 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to Pam’s full-time caregiver for the past six years, Mary Holt of Granbury. Mary worked tirelessly to help Pam remain active and living in her own home for as long as possible.

Visitation will be at Wiley
