Loyce was born to Marvin and Grace Richardson on March 28, 1928 at Rockwood, Texas (Coleman County). Her early education was obtained from the Concho Peak and Shields Schools. All of her high school tenure was at Santa Anna and she graduated in 1945. She continued her education the next four years and graduated from McMurry College in 1949 with a B. S. degree. That fall she began her teaching career at Big Spring. After two years of teaching she married Bryan Phenix on June 9, 1951 to become a housewife and homemaker. Their daughter Cynthia Ann was born on March 22, 1952. Seven years later, Loyce returned to the classroom and completed her teaching career with the Crane Independent School District. She retired in 1984 with 27 ½ years experience. Since that time she has enjoyed traveling in their motor home and spending time in the Rio Grande Valley.

Loyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bryan Phenix, three sisters, Elizabeth Dudley, Edith Jennings, twin, Joyce Cooper, and brothers: Roy Richardson, JP Richardson, Gene Richardson and Cecil Richardson.

Her survivors include one daughter Cynthia Richardson and husband Randy of Glen Rose and numerous nieces and nephews.
