Lawrence “Larry” Clifton Duckworth Jr. age 76 passed away April 14th, 2021 in Granbury, Texas.
He was born in Mt. Vernon, Indiana on July 12, 1944.
He is survived by his wife Donna Jo Duckworth of Granbury, TX , 2 sons Clifton L Duckworth of College Station, TX and David A. Duckworth of Carrollton, TX, a daughter Kara Duckworth Smith and son in law Troy R. Smith of White Settlement, TX.
He was also survived by 1 sister Beverly Allbright Whalen, and 2 brothers Dennis Duckworth and Ricky Duckworth, 3 sisters-in-law and 1 brother-in-law.
He was a veteran of the Korean War at the age of 17 he enlisted in to the military and served both at home and overseas. He was a mechanic in the US Army, after he left the military this love of all things mechanical carried over into his job as a elevator mechanic which started in El Paso, TX which he worked for several years before moving to Odessa, TX where he started his own company Permian Elevator which he had many years before finally moving to Granbury, TX where he retired eventually after working several years in the DFW metroplex. He had 45+ years in the trade and was very active in the Local 21 Elevators Union.
He had quite a few hobbies but his favorite was probably the love for riding motorcycles over the years. He frequently attended motorcycle rallies where he made a lot of memories with both family and friends. He also spent a lot of time outdoors from fishing on a boat dock and enjoying the peaceful environment to having a hectic boat ride getting others into the world of water skiing and other water sports and camping. He loved every minute of it.
He had many friends and spent many days of the week at the VFW in Granbury where these people became a 2nd family to him and was one of his favorite places.
He was one of the most quick witted people around, he could always come up with a snappy response. whether this be a simple joke. to something much more elaborate and sarcastic.
He was a loving husband, father and friend and will be missed!
