Harold Robert MacMillan, 95, of Granbury, Texas passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018.

Harold was welcomed into the home of John and Lillian MacMillan in Hillsdale, New Jersey on February 8, 1923.  Out of eight children, Harold was the last survivor. His twin, Charles, was killed in a plane crash while serving in the U. S. Navy in 1943.

Harold attended Princeton University for two years.  He left school to proudly serve his country in the U. S. Navy as a fighter pilot in Korea.  He also served in Vietnam.  He met his wife of 67 years, Nancy, at an Officer’s Club while both were in the Navy and they were married December 9, 1950. Harold left aviation and became a Surface Line Officer, commanding the USS Storms DD 780 and the USS Virgo AE 30. He served as Deputy Chief of Staff, COMSERVPAC, supplying all ammunition in the Pacific during the Vietnam Conflict. His last tour was Inspector General for Military Sealift Command.  Harold served 32 years and retired in 1974 after achieving the rank of Captain. While serving in the military he lived in Paris, Hawaii, and all over the United States.

Harold completed his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Maryland and later received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He loved reading Proust and poetry.  Harold also enjoyed painting and golfing. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings.

Survivors: Wife, Nancy MacMillan; children Charles “Chip” MacMillan (Joyce) and Michael “Mike” MacMillan (Laura); grandchildren Cathy McDonough (Bart), Lauren Scott (Nathaniel) and Charles MacMillan, great-grandchildren Caitlin, John, Kevin, Abigail, Andrew, Elijah and Enoch; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
