GLEN ROSE — Bob “Captain Bob” Fuston, 78, passed away Monday, Apr. 23, 2012, in Glen Rose.
Memorial services will be scheduled for the early summer at Port Mansfield, Texas, and you are all invited to share the loss of this life with us.
Mr. Fuston was born Aug. 11, 1933, in Brownwood, to Earl and Pricie Dugger Fuston. He married Fran Riddle, Feb. 23, 1980, in Glen Rose. He was best known as the legendary Red Bandana Charter and specialized in wade fishing for trout and redfish in the lower Laguna Madra Bay System out of Port Mansfield, Texas. Capt’n Bob developed the fishing tackle known as the Original Mansfield Mauler which is used by saltwater bay fishermen from Brownsville, Texas to the Florida Keys.
After serving in the Navy, Bob returned to the Golden Triangle and worked as an electrician and raised his family. He spent a number of years with Brown ‘n Root’s nuclear division building two nuclear plants in North Carolina and serving as the General Superintendent over Electric & Insturmentation at Comanche Peak, in Glen Rose. Bob retired in 1980 and went to Port Mansfield starting the Red Bandana Charter, and as they say “…the rest is history”.
