Raymond Plaster was especially proud of his Native American Choctaw heritage. As a young man he served proudly as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. Being able to serve his country was one of his most shining achievements. He believed in serving God, his country, his family, his church, and his community.

Most people know Raymond fondly as Pastor Plaster. He began his pastoral ministry in 1962 and successively became an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God. He traveled for many years as an itinerant evangelist across the United States preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ both in tent meetings and churches alike. He pastored many churches in several states including California, Oklahoma, Oregon, Michigan, and Texas. He served in many capacities, including boards and committees to assist in the overall health of the church. In 1984 he began his pastoral ministry at the Granbury Church of God in Granbury, Texas. This was the highlight of his life and ministry where he and Linda faithfully served as Senior Pastors for 31 years. Under their ministry several building projects including the beautiful sanctuary were completed and the church continued to grow. Following their semi-retirement they became Pastor Emeritus of the church and began serving in a supporting role to his spiritual son and daughter, the present Lead Pastors, Brett and Shelena Quillin. Countless lives were won to the Lord by Pastor Plaster’s sacrifice to carry the gospel. He loved God with all his heart and invested his entire life in seeing the local church body and its people grow and develop into strong disciples. He empowered and nurtured many spiritual sons and daughters. He leaves a lasting legacy of love and devotion to so many. He is a beloved pastor.

His fruit will remain. He has fought his fight and now he’s finished his race, there is now therefore laid up for him a crown of righteousness, “which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day” II Timothy 4:8.
